An apple a day keeps the doctor away

Its almost similar to the pear assignment but we have to play with emotions on this one. we have to use the apples to represent emotions. most of my otr classmates used smiles.. even my best friend asked me to use smiles.. using facial expression on the apple to represent emotions... but I decided to be a little different... here is how...

The 1st draft of the artwork.. we have to work on 5 emotions and 15 thumbnails for each emotion

still the 1st draft..

after that, we have to choose 5 out of the 15 on each emotion and color them.

finally, 1 from each emotion for the final presentation.
top left : happy, the bright yellow color represent a bright happy sunny day
Top mid : sorrow, a melting apple represent a sour face
Top right : love, a melted apple represent the heart of some1 in love
Bottom left : anger, sometimes when u are angry, ur whole body starts to heat up.. here it can cook an egg.
Bottom mid : anxious, an apple hidden within a box.. scared, anxious

Here is another assignment, toying with drawing methods... dots, lines and moph...

again, we have to work on different medium... different grades of pen and pencils

we were given "christmas icons" as the theme

Playing with colors

mastering the art of color combination. here is how we do it in Go Academy

We have to play with the color shadings to begin with. from dark to light... i got it on my 2nd tryout

The color wheel.. according to the lecturers, the previous record of the college to get all the color right was 3rd or 4th attempt. I got it correct on my 1st but sadly, I ruined it because it was dirty. so if you don't count tat as a success.. I got it on my 2nd attempt. I still broke the college record.. lol

life drawing - learning the different medium

To master the art of illustration, we have to learn how to work with different medium.. there r the pencil, charcoal, pen, marker, watercolor, pastel and etc.... so here are a few illustration I did at the 2nd half of the sem 1....

Toying with pens. its a life drawing assignment in class and we have to learn how to master the cross hatch techniques for the sha

using color pencils. its not easy even if it looks simple. We have to learn the cool and warm color altogether..

watercolor is hard to master cause you need to be precise with the amount of water on your brush and the amount of water used to mix the paste

final project. paint with reference using water color.

final project : open topic (with perspective) on water color.

The Pear.. VCD

Well, to generate the skills of idea developing, we were asked to use pear as our theme. we have to generate 15 sketches within the given time in class and we have to sketch it out. medium is not restricted and we just have to be creative.

left : its an eye with a drop of tear. sadness. | Right : the pear represent earth which is being corrupted.. infested with worms

left : The tree of life | Right : shelter.. the pear provide shelter for the fish

left : non-stop till the end. | Right : smoking kills

left : Safety first.. the pear is covered with a condom | Right : perfection.. shape like a female figure

left : yin and yang, the balance of the world | Right : heaven and hell, its just a mirror image

left : coporate cloning, the truth of the world | Right : modernization.. automation

The search for life

color of the world

mind mapping - vcd

To be good at any field at all.. we have to 1st learn the technique of coming up with ideas.. what better way than to mind map it.. its a hideous work but it works.. this is the 2nd project we had on this topic in class.. the 1st was a boring graph artwork... so i didn't posted it up...

vision - well, i've always had this dream of me growing wings behind my back... either a angelic wing or a demonic... it comes random...

concentration - well, the clock is there to emphasis the urgency of the situation and tat is actually me tryin to finish off the project...

fear - falling off from a high ground.. i guess everyone has tis sorta fear...

illusion - a tiger camoflaging behind some bushes...

here's another project... nothing to do with mind mapping.. but there's only two of these.. so i figure i just chuck em here.. I've revised the illustration.. so tis here is a version 2

another version 2 sketches.. the 1st was an absolute horrid... lol.. i didn't like it at all... :P

Basic sketches and composition

Here are some of the artwork i've done within this 4 mths.. i've posted some of it up on my otr blog.. but i just wanna keep a record here.. anyways...

Here is a sketch of my jeans hanging loose on a chair.. its a homework so i didn't know what to work on.. so right.. i have a lovely composition

we were required to take 5 objects and sketch them at different angles. this is a photo stand

here is the air conditioner's remote from my college

my K800i

my classmate's sharperner and my stapler..

my versace blue perfume bottle

a correction pen, my sharperner and a white board eraser.

my pencil case.. its a PENCIL case... absolutely no pen

here is a perspective view of them...

and another perspective view.. didn't do a great job here..

and the final composition of all the objects.. we have to come up with it on our own..

perspective

to start off, we were asked to sketch the interior perspective. I've not touched on perspective previously but well, its a good knowledge to start on if you are interested in comics. so it got me heated up knowing tat fact... :P

a sketch of my campus.. well, not exactly a campus since its only 1 flr. but anyways, I was leaning on my lifedrawing classroom wall tryin to work on my 1st perspective

here I am, sitted opposite to where I did my above artwork and right next to the toilets...

sketching my rented house. its a very mess living room actually with a weird composition.. yes, the object on the far lower left is actually a bed.. :P

My bedroom.. well, its clean as it is... lol

this is a view from the kitchen in the house... quite empty from this angle...

the building right next to my college.. i overdid it by sketching it overly big.

the lobby at the summit, USJ. I had to pay RM5++ just to sit at the restaurant..

the lobby at subang square. Its suppose to be a very fast sketch.. and so i did a fast contour sketch.. I was the 1st to finish the sketch and was approached by passerby inquiring bout our course... lol

its a sketch of the apartment I've living in.. not a nice one but.. oh well, you b the judge of it..

this here is not a rubbish dumping site.. its actually the kiosk at the NZX... lol

charcoal

Its not my 1st time using charcoal. previously, I played with it curiousity wise. never thought that I would need to use pastel to enhance the lightings. well, i'm going to post it up soon.. all my previous drawings b4 year 2000. Its a fun and messy medium to toy with...lol

Learning how to highlights the light and shadows of objects.

dealing with perspective. We were charcoaling at a cafe below our campus.

Right after my perspective above, I started sketching my classmate and lecturer with charcoal. my other classmates were still working on them.

the same mannequin used for drapery. this time, he is dress like cesear.. lol

Homework again.. well, you can see all the objects are which you can find at any house...

we were required to sketch using a picture as a reference.. so I got tis out of the internet.. its a small picture for a reference.. but I did fairly well on this one.... hopefully...
